8.30am 20.11.07 - A MOTORCYCLIST has died in Cheddar last night (Mon) in a road traffic collision.
A blue Yamaha motorbike was travelling west along Draycott Road in the direction of Cheddar at 6.35pm.
As it left Draycott it accelerated and overtook a vehicle but when the rider moved to the nearside of the road it is believed he clipped the kerb, causing a loss of control.
The bike and rider slid across the road before colliding with the front of an oncoming Nissan Navara, which catapulted the rider and bike back on to the nearside lane.
The motorcyclist - a man in his 30s from the Cheddar area - was rushed to Weston General Hospital but he was found to be dead on arrival.
The incident on the A371 Draycott Road outside Mole End Nursery.
The road policing unit have put out an appeal for witnesses. They would like to hear from anyone who may have been travelling along the A371 last night at the time of the road traffic incident who may have seen the motorcycle and may have information to help with their investigation.
