A motorcyclist has died following a crash on a rural road in North Somerset.

The 53-year-old man crashed into a tree on the B3134 this morning (Sunday) at about 9.50am in Blagdon.

A police investigation has begun and this evening an appeal for witnesses to come forward was made by Avon and Somerset Constabulary.

A police spokesman said ‘the next of kin has been informed and are being supported’. The victim has not been named publicly at this stage however.

He said: “The road was closed for around six hours while we carried out enquiries at the scene.

“If you saw this collision, or have any information which could help us, please call us on 101 and give the reference number 138/17.”
