Biker killed in crash with lorry

A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash involving a lorry this lunchtime (Monday).

The crash occurred on the B3135 in the Cheddar Gorge, close to Priddy, at about 1.30pm.

The biker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Their identity has not been made public at this stage.

Police have closed off part of Plummers Lane while it acrries out accident investigation work.

An Avon and Constabulary spokesman said: “We were called at just before 1.30pm today after a collision between a motorbike and a lorry.

“The motorcyclist sadly died at the scene.

“Our collision investigators will now examine the scene so the road will remain closed for several hours.

“Please avoid the area and use alternative routes. Diversions are being put in place by the local authority.

“If you saw this collision, please call our Collision Investigation Unit on 101, and give the call handler the log number 478 of May 7.”

The fatality comes after two similar incidents last month

On April 29, a man died on the A371 near Cheddar, when his BMW crashed.

Three days before, a 56-year-old motorcyclist died on Burnham Moor Lane in Highbridge.
