A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital following an accident last night (Tues).

The incident happened in Lower Weare when a motorbike and a car collided on Bridgwater Road at about 5.15pm.

South West Ambulance Service crews and the police were called to the scene.

The motorbike rider suffered head and leg injuries, and was taken to Weston General Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car was unhurt.

The road was closed for several hours while the accident was cleared, but it had reopened again by 7.30pm.
