MEN across the district have been sporting moustaches throughout November – not for a new fad but to raise funds for charity.

Movember: Staff at NSHousing

‘Movember’ saw thousands of people across the globe grow their facial hair to raise cash for The Prostate Cancer Charity.

In North Somerset around 20 players, coaches and supporters of Hornets RFC took part in the event as well as staff from NSHousing.

Hornets have raised more than £1,200 and the Mo Bros and Mo Sistas from NSHousing have raked in £325, with the organisation pledging an extra £300.

Nine regulars from Bleadon pub the Queen’s Arms also sacrificed their razors for a month but opted to donate their funds to Help for Heroes.

Sam Highmore arranged the event, and the group ended up raising £1,000.

Miles Orme, group member, said: “We got a lot of funny looks from people and had to explain why we were growing our moustaches pretty much every time we went out.

“It was pretty horrible and we were all clean shaven on December 1, but we are going to do it again next year.”
