A PORTISHEAD singer is putting forward proposals to demolish the town's open air pool and replace it with a multi million pound concert hall.Michael O'Sullivan, who sings and plays in local choirs, has drawn up plans to demolish the pool, move it further up the seafront and create a purpose-built concert hall on the site. The concert hall would feature a 400-seat theatre, practice rooms and an art gallery. There would be a restaurant with patio area, practice rooms and a dance workshop area with ballet rails and mirrored practice areas. As part of the plan, the open air pool would be rebuilt further along the seafront.Mr O-Sullivan said: "The idea came to me when I was performing at the drama club and we were having real problems finding a venue."This would be a hub for theatre, music and dance."The restaurant would also be incorporated in the development and be built up against the hillside. People would be able to enjoy a meal before a performance and those attending workshops and practice sessions would also use it."The swimming pool would be moved further along The Esplanade and built slightly into the rock face. It would be surrounded by palm trees and seating to give it a real seaside Riviera feeling."Mr O'Sullivan has been in touch with North Somerset Council about his plans and is now keen to hear feedback from local residents. He said: "This site is ideal as it is in a wonderful position and has ready made parking facilities."Funding for the project - expected to cost in the region of £20 million - would be sought from organisations including the Lottery and Arts Council.* What do you think about these plans?
