A LIBERAL Democrat MP will be hoping she does not join a sinking ship when she joins a 17-mile bathtub paddle.

Tessa Munt will sail with intrepid paddlers Ric Canham, from Axbridge, and Rob Knott, from Portishead, for one mile of their journey from Bath to Bristol down the River Avon.

The Somerset-based MP said she was anxious ahead of her unorthodox sailing trip on June 10.

She said: “They hope to raise £10,000, so I hope everyone who supports the work of the Alzheimer’s Society or the Lifeboats will respond by going onto and making a contribution.

“Paddling into the record books in a bathtub is a great way to increase awareness of two really important causes

“Ric and Rob assured me that it won’t sink, but it looks pretty tricky and, with me paddling, it isn’t out of the question.”
