NINE people have been arrested in relation to a Weston-super-Mare stabbing which left two men seriously injured – with one in a ‘critical’ condition.
The pair were attacked outside the Saffron House block of flats in Prospect Place by a group of men, who fled the scene on pushbikes, at about 8pm on July 17.
One of the victims, who is 37 years old, suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in a ‘critical but stable’ condition in Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
Five people were arrested on July 19 in connection with the incident and two more men were arrested on Friday morning on suspicion of attempted murder, while another man was arrested on the same day on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.
Further arrests were then made on Sunday. One man was held on suspicion of wounding with intent, while another was held on suspicion of assisting an offender.
One of the men in question was arrested for two different offences. All nine suspects have since been released on police bail.
Superintendent Geoff Wessell said: “This was a serious incident and the investigation into it is a priority.
“We would still ask that anyone with information comes forward and speaks to us now on 101, or contacts Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
