A NEW mum from Axbridge will be leaving the pram at home to race through the streets of Bristol to raise vital funds for a Somerset-based children's charity.

Randa Abdullah, of Park Field, gave birth to her second child, Emmy, at Christmas and has spent the past four months training for the Bristol Half Marathon, which takes place on September 30.

She plans to take on the challenge to raise money for Bridgwater-based Bibic, which supports children with brain injuries.

Randa said: “I wanted a local charity which maybe does not receive as much recognition as some of the larger, national charities get, while still doing such valuable work.

“It is the hardest but most rewarding job in the world raising children, and Bibic really does help those who need support the most.”

Bibic’s fundraising manager, Jess Winchester, said “To take part in a half marathon so soon after having a baby is a massive challenge and we have been completely blown away by Randa’s efforts – we hope people will be encouraged to sponsor her.”
