A MOTHER from Elborough claims she was 'treated like a thug' after she was refused entry to a pub for wearing a baseball cap.Emma Pook, aged 28, of Cedern Avenue, her husband Lee and their five-year-old son Adam are regulars at the Catherine's Inn in Bleadon. But when the family went to the pub for tea after a hard day's work, Mrs Pook was told she could not come in because she refused to take her hat off.She said: "When we walked in the barman shouted across at me and said that I couldn't go in with a hat on. He said it was because of a new policy."I couldn't take my hat off because I hadn't done my hair so he wouldn't let us in. I was cringing with embarrassment because of the way it was handled. He could've taken me to one side and said that you're not supposed to wear hats but it's OK this time, but he shouted it out in front of everyone." The pub is part of the Hungry Horse chain owned by Greene King brewery. The company maintains hats must not be worn for security issues."We are extremely regretful if we have offended anyone.
