Rock legends 10CC headlined a ‘fantastic’ musical weekend at the Tropicana in Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.

The 1970s icons – best known for their ballad I’m Not In Love – were one of a number of big-name bands to play across three nights of concerts.

On Saturday, 10cc were joined by Racey and Robbie Coles, while the Wonder Stuff, Ferocious Dog and Mark Chadwick from the Levellers performed on Friday and there was a charity concert on Sunday, with a line-up that included Weston’s Boulevard Swing and RAFA Band.

Organisers Cliff Moore and Dean Turner said: “The sun may not have shone for the whole weekend but the music was fantastic.

“Thank you to North Somerset Council and Darren Fairchild from Weston’s seafront team for all their help with this event.

“They clearly agreed with us that this is a venue to be used to put on great events from the national live music circuit, right here in Weston.”

The council hopes the Tropicana can be used as an events venue in its own right in the future, and the next event to be held there will be the inaugural Hazy Days music festival on July 8-10.

Mr Fairchild said: “We have a really good programme coming up for Weston, and a couple of bits and pieces for the Tropicana we are working on.

“We have a couple of other events to go in there which we are yet to put the final details on.”

The charity evening raised money for Help For Heroes, Cancer Research UK and Weston Hospicecare, but the final amount collected has not been announced yet.

And perhaps The Boomtown Rats could make an appearance in 2017. Bob Geldof spoke in a video ahead of the show, which you can watch here.
