Bin lorry drivers and their teams took over the town’s seafront for this year’s competition which saw more than 30 teams from around the country compete.

Biffa placed second overall and were handed £100 prize money for their podium position – which the team donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Children from local schools were also invited to take part to learn more about recycling and reducing waste disposal.

Event founder Spencer Law said: “I am overwhelmed with how well it went. It was much bigger than last year and the feedback from everyone has been so positive.

“So far we have raised more than £20,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society, but the JustGiving page is still open for donations and we hope we can achieve double last year’s total of £12,000.”
