THESE are the latest images of a multi-million pound development which is due to be completed this summer.Weston College's new site in Loxton Road is set to open its doors to more than 800 students for the first time in September.University Campus, which cost £15million to build, will offer degree level courses in association with other further education centres in the South West and will also house the art and design, music and media departments. Some of the foundation degree subjects on offer will include broadcast media, graphic design, music production, popular music and applied arts. The site will also have its own sixth form centre with seminar rooms, computer suites and science laboratories and will be linked to two others by a glass covered bridge.A music technology wing will be kitted out with state-of-the-art facilities including a performance hall, recording studios and a set of rehearsal spaces. The art and design buildings will include ceramics and textiles studios, photography and media workshops and three dark rooms. In their spare time students at the campus will be able to browse in the on-site shop, chill out in the bistro or relax in one of the many outdoor social areas. The Learning and Skills Council has contributed £7million to the development project with the rest of the funding coming from the college.Pupils from Worle Community School, Wyvern Community School, Priory Community School and Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College have already been treated to a tour of the new facilities so they can see where they might study for their A-levels next year.It has also been announced that there will be a direct bus link from Weston and surrounding areas to the new campus.
