PROPOSALS for a learning and cultural quarter in Burnham took a major step forward this week.
Initial plans drawn up for a new community facility on the existing Princess site in Princess Street have been given the thumbs up from local groups.
The proposals were shown at a meeting with representatives from Burnham and Highbridge Community Centre, the town council, Princess users, the Regeneration Partnership , Somerset County Council, Sedgemoor District Council and King Alfred School.
Consultant architect Nigel Grainge has drawn up an artist's impression of the new building. The plans provide a flexible space that could be used for a number of community projects. A more detailed proposal will be drawn up once community groups have spoken to their members and come back with a list of requirements.
