A new venue is now being sought for the cafe

A NEW venue is being sought for a community café in Locking.

For the past four weeks the café has been held at the church centre in Lychgate, but it will no longer be available after the next meeting on Wednesday.

The weekly café was founded after villagers came together last month to share ideas on how the village could be improved at a Locking To The Future ideas jam.

But the church centre will no longer be available from September, and Locking To The Future co-ordinator Stuart Hayward now wants to find a new venue to allow the café to continue.

He said: “Although the response to the café’s hasn’t been overwhelming, we have had double figures each time – we had 20 people last week.

“It’s a bit up in the air at the moment until we find somewhere. The concept is there but we just need somewhere for it to exist.”

Anyone who can provide an alternative venue should contact Mr Hayward by emailing

The next ideas jam will be held at The Coach House pub in Manor Gardens on August 30 at 7.30pm.
