New tailored support will be offered to people at risk of developing type 2 diabetes in North Somerset.

The condition can be life-threatening and lead to complications such as loss of limbs, heart disease and kidney and nerve damage.

Hundreds of people are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes in North Somerset, often due to poor lifestyle choices. Now the district has been chosen to take part in a pioneering NHS programme which will offer education and lifestyle coaching to those at risk.

The NHS diabetes prevention programme will be used in the district to offer people healthy eating advice, education on lifestyle, help to lose weight and bespoke physical exercise programmes.
