A NEW drop-in centre will be opened in Weston on Saturday after securing the money to provide services and support for children and young people.

Wanted Not Wasted is a new group which has set up a centre in Lonsdale Avenue on the Bournville estate.

The drop-in centre is looking to provide help and support for young people and their families.

Services will include an after-school drop-in for youngsters, information and advice for families and support from trained professionals.

The centre will open on Saturday after being granted a rent-free period on the premises for the first year from Alliance Homes.

It will officially open at 11am with Weston mayor David Hitchins cutting the ribbon before activities for children and free food and drink are offered.

The group is also looking for volunteers to help run activities for children after school.
