FRESH plans to redevelop Clevedon's derelict Royal Pier Hotel have been submitted.Applicants Mr Hill and Mr White have applied to North Somerset Council to convert the Grade II listed building at Marine Parade into 27 flats. The hotel owners were granted permission to extend and alter the building to create 17 new apartments with basement car parking in 2003. But the owners say the scheme now needs to be increased to 27 flats to make it viable and cover the spiralling redevelopment costs. At a meeting of Clevedon environment and planning committee on Monday night, councillors agreed the new scheme should be given the green light.Clevedon councillor Carl Francis-Pester said: "It was the committee's view that we need to do everything possible to get this building sorted out."The Royal Pier Hotel is a blight on what is otherwise an attractive seafront."A final decision on the application will be made by North Somerset Council north area planning committee.
