A PROJECT to involve Weston's older residents in Weston's super Food Festival has been launched this week.

The Austerity Recipe Project gives the elderly population a chance to get involved in the Mercury-supported festival running from September 21-22.

Those taking part will be asked to recall recipes used during the Second World War and post-war period which might be relevant to people in food poverty who need to cook on a limited budget.

Elderly residents can also take part in the Talks and Tastings programme during the festival to pass on cookery tips and advice to novice cooks.

They will also be able to compile, design and print recipe leaflets to distribute to visitors.
