MORE tourists could be on their way to weston with the launch of a new campaign targeted at bringing more coaches to the town.

Love Weston have received funding for the two-year marketing project from the town’s Business Improvement District (BID), following on from the launch of a similar initiative in Burnham.

Debbie Matthews, tourism consultant for Love Weston, travelled with the Burnham team to the finals of the National Coach Tourism Awards in Blackpool last weekend, where they were nominated as one of the friendliest destinations for coaches in the UK.

She said: “We want to provide a better offering for those that visit us on day trips, both passengers and drivers, and want to work towards more coaches coming for three and four-night breaks in Weston.”

Paul Batts, chairman of Weston BID, said: “We are proud to be taking a lead in bringing more coaches to Weston for both long and short-stay visits. All we need now is for local businesses to engage in this project, as the early adopters will see the best rewards in the long term.”
