New location for council services

RESIDENTS who want to access council services face-to-face can get all the information they need at a new temporary base in Weston.
From Monday public reception services will be based in Somerset House, Oxford Street, just around the corner from the town hall.
The temporary move comes as the Town Hall building on Walliscote Grove Road closes its doors ready for its rennovation.
The refurbishment of the Town Hall will see the ground floor offer a wide range of easily-accessible services, including a new central library.
The refurbished premises will accommodate 50 per cent more than before.
It is part of the council’s improvement programme to amalgamate its offices into two main buildings, the Town Hall and Castlewood building in Clevedon. The move hopes to deliver annual savings of £700,000 within three years.
Cllr Felicity Baker, executive member with responsibility for customer services, said: “It will be business as usual for anyone who wants to access council services while the new Town Hall is being transformed into a modern public facility and work space.
“All our services will be available as normal just around the corner at Somerset House until the refurbished new Town Hall building re-opens next year.”
Housing enquiries and HomeChoice will be available as normal in Somerset House and all services will keep their current opening hours.
