WESTON’S new mayor Councillor Cyril King was elected at a special ceremony last month.
The mayor making event was held in the Old Council Chamber at the Town Hall on May 19.
Cllr King took over the role from Councillor Phil Judd, who gave three mayor’s award presentations at the ceremony in recognition of inspirational and dedicated work to the local community.
These went to Richard Knowles, chairman of Weston in Bloom, Peter Holder, of Weston RNLI, and Mark Ellis of FRIEND.
Cllr King has nominated the RNLI, Great Western Air Ambulance and Chaplaincy About Town (ChAt) to be beneficiaries for his year in office.
Some 110 councillors and guests attended the ceremony followed by a celebratory dinner at the Royal Hotel.
