A NEW musical director will lead Weston Choral Society in its 150th anniversary year after retiring from teaching.

Howard Sayer taught music at Worle Community School for more than 30 years, where he established the Worle School Youth Choir.

He has now retired – but has plans for a new musical role.

He is currently conductor of Worle Chorale, which over the past six years has won trophies at the Bath and Mid-Somerset Festival.

Mr Sayer enjoys music by John Rutter, Bob Chilcott and Eric Whiteacre, which are all likely to feature in future choral society concerts.
