DOZENS of new offices are to be built in Weston under plans by a national developer.

Pure Offices is considering one of two undisclosed sites to build a £3million office block after discovering 'considerable' demand from small businesses.

The news offers hope for jobs remaining in the town at a time when North Somerset Council could be relocating up to 700 posts to Clevedon.

Managing director Nick Smith said: "We're keen to build in the town because we know there is considerable demand for new, smaller offices.

"I know of businesses looking to relocate closer to their workers and small businesses wanting to start up with a base in the town.

"We've got the funding and are considering one of two sites, once we've chosen it building work could begin later this year."

The set of offices, which is among three planned developments in the country by the company, will be 20,000sq ft and include parking.
