DEVELOPERS planning projects in North Somerset will have to pay a tariff in future.

The new scheme will eventually replace section 106 contributions, where North Somerset Council negotiates with companies about the amount of money they are willing to set aside to pay for infrastructure including roads and roundabouts.

Executive member for strategic planning, Councillor Elfan Ap Rees, said: "It is not for council taxpayers to cover these facilities."

He said the tariff would make it clear to potential investors what it would cost for them to carry out major developments and make the current system more transparent.
