New peoples collection in Weston

A THIRTY year hobby is being showcased in Weston’s museum.

Angela Haden from Banwell has her collection of dog memorabilia on show as the latest peoples collection.

Angela, aged 62 has been collecting all things to do with dogs for three decades.

Dotted around her house, she picked the best to show off at the museum in Weston.

She said: “I had my first Bernese about 30 years ago.

“I began to pick up things to do with the type of dog but there wasn’t a lot of things to collect with the Bernese.

“So then I started a collection of anything to do with dogs.

“Since then it has become a hobby for me.

“On display at the museum there are hand bags with pictures of dogs on them, a Swiss dog collar, a couple of soft toys that are dressed up, jewellery, dog shaped broaches and badges.”

Angela has mostly collected her items from across Europe and America in charity shops and off eBay.

She said: “My favourite item is a tiny little broach of a Coyote which I got in the US in a charity shop.”

Angela has three greyhounds and one bernese currently living with her.

She said: “It is really good that the museum will showcase it and allow people to see the collection.

“I plan to continue collecting all things to do with dogs.”
