A NEW recruit has joined forces with this year’s Great Weston Ride which will provide a range of support services for the coast-to-coast bike ride.

Bristol Cycling Development Squad (BCDS), one of the West Country’s leading cycling clubs, has joined forces with this year’s ride.

The Great Weston Ride is a popular 56-mile cycling challenge that takes participants on a journey through the Mendips and across the Somerset Levels before finishing on Weston’s seafront.

This year experienced BCDS members and volunteers will be on hand throughout the day providing a range of important services, including marshalling, to ensure that riders have the best possible experience.

Riders of all abilities can take part in the event, and if often taken up by a number of first-time challenge riders and the support services on the day are designed to provide participants with assistance along the way.

BCDS club chairman, Jeff Coast, said: “We’re delighted as a club to be involved and associated with the Great Weston Ride. It’s a fabulous event and it shares our goal of providing and promoting great cycling experiences.

“Several of us have taken part in the event in the past and we’re very pleased to be able to use the experience within the club to add another dimension to what is already a terrific event”.

BCDS will also bring some free Go-Ride racing sessions for young riders waiting at the finish of this year’s event.
