A COMMUNITY figure has been chosen to take on an important new position.
Peter Hardaway, who lives in Wick St Lawrence, is the new chairman of Weston Liberal Democrats.
An experienced businessman who has played major roles in the consumer electronics industry, Peter is also the chairman of North Worle Local Action Team and leader and treasurer at Worle Baptish Church.
He lives with his wife Carol and his son Christopher and succeeds town councillor Mark Canniford, who has been chairman for the past three years.
Weston's Liberal Democrat prospective parliamentary candidate, Mike Bell, said: "I am very pleased that we have attracted someone of Peter's experience and calibre to lead us forward.
"We are determined to win the parliamentary seat back from the Conservatives at the next General Election, whenever it comes, and rebuild our strength on North Somerset and Weston Town councils.
