A WESTON couple have kick-started a new charity sports and social group in the town.

Jo Wood, aged 40, and husband Christopher, aged 37, held their first gathering for blind and partially-sighted people at charity Vision North Somerset’s headquarters in Neva Road, last week.

The Weston duo, of Clifton Road, who are both registered blind, decided to create the group to promote social inclusion of people with eyesight problems.

Chris, who lost his eyesight after a motorcycle accident in 1993, said: “This cheese and wine social night was a big success and we were very pleased with how many people attended.

“We will be planning lots more events and if anyone wants to help out or get involved then let us know.”
