MULTI million pound plans to build a new Tesco store in Clevedon are to be revealed next week. The plans - which will see a new store created at Southern Way - will be on display at the store from November 29-December 1. The display, in a mobile trailer at the current store's car park, will open from 12noon-8pm on Thursday, 10am-6pm on Friday and from 10am-2pm on Saturday.Bosses at the supermarket giant would not confirm to the North Somerset Times what the new plans entailed, but urged local residents to go along over the three days to view them.Tesco spokesman Dan Bramwell said: "We are submitting revised plans and look forward to seeing people at the display to discuss them."A previous application to double the size of the existing store was withdrawn earlier this year following a wave of protest from local residents. The new supermarket would have covered 5,588 sq metres and included a variety of new lines including electrical goods and clothing. But residents said they were concerned about the extra noise and traffic the bigger store would cause.Local businesses also raised objections, claiming a larger supermarket would have a detrimental impact on town centre trade. The current store was built 11 years ago and Tesco chiefs say the upgrade is needed to offer customers a better shopping experience.
