Paul Larcombe was officially given the title of team rector at a ceremony at St Martin's Church in Church Road.
The vicar, who has a wife Liz, who is a psychiatric staff nurse and two children, Emma aged 27 and 18-year-old Rachael, moved from Peterborough where the family had lived for the last 11 years.
Rev Larcombe was born and brought up at Ingatestone in Essex, where he completed an engineering technician apprenticeship and was then sponsored to complete a degree in electrical and electronic engineering.
He went into electronic design and development before moving into sales and marketing. His final role was as business development manager before he resigned to move to Bristol to study theology.
His last position was as priest in charge at St Paul's Church in Peterborough.
Rev Larcombe said: "Please keep us in your prayers as we leave our friends in Peterborough, and look forward to tending a different garden, settling into a new home and worshipping with you all in the Worle churches.
