A Weston-based community group has put out an appeal for more volunteers to join its allotment project.

The Alliance Homes Growing Together project is a gardening and growing initiative based on the Bournville estate.

The project is funded by the Big Lottery and includes three community green spaces, two allotments and a wildlife garden.

Growing Together project development worker Matt White said: “We are a friendly and enthusiastic group of gardeners who would love other residents from the South Ward to join us.

“You do not have to be a green-fingered guru. Just have the enthusiasm to learn and the willingness to get your hands dirty.”

The allotment group meets every Monday from 1-4pm. To find out more and arrange an induction, contact Matt White on 07580 025674.
