A planning application has been submitted for a privately-owned Burnham care home to be converted into a family home.

Newton Lodge, in Berrow Road, provides residential care for a maximum of five service users.

The application to convert it has been made to Sedgemoor District Council.

In the home’s design and access statement, it says no other alterations are proposed to the building’s layout, scale or appearance.

Newton Lodge cares for young and old adults who have learning disabilities and challenging behaviours, including asperger syndrome and autism.

In its latest Care Quality Commission report, the home received an overall rating of good for the service it provides, the second highest recognition awarded.

Phil Reddish
Design, in Jaycroft Road, is the agent responsible for the application, with the earliest decision date set for December 16.
