STAFF from NHS North Somerset have paid tribute to their chairman after she celebrated her 20th anniversary as a non-executive board member this month.
Jane Barrie OBE was given a surprise tribute after presenting an awards ceremony at NHS Somerset’s AGM.
Dr Donal Hynes, Chairman of the NHS Somerset’s professional executive committee, said there were few people in the country who have her experience.
He said: “Jane has always regarded the safety of patients as paramount and has been a strong advocate of good training and education to all NHS staff.
“Her wide experience and continuity of service has meant she has been the foundation rock from which NHS Somerset has achieved excellence and delivered improvements in the population’s health, dramatically reduced local waiting times and improved the standards of care.”
Mrs Barrie, who received her OBE in 2004, will remain as chairman until 2013.
