Plans to create a pet crematorium in a village have won support from parish councillors who favour the 'niche' businesses opening.

Planning permission is being sought by Pet Angels Parlour to open a crematorium in Yatton’s Wemberham Lane.

The project involves transforming a storage area and neighbours feel that would be hugely inappropriate in a built-up residential area.

Yatton Parish Council though is in favour of the enterprise, despite several letters of objection from villagers being submitted to North Somerset Council.

Parish council clerk Aleana Baird said: “Councillors considered it was a ‘niche’ business in the parish providing a new service for pet owners, though its recommendation to support the application was subject to all the environmental stipulations of Defra and North Somerset Council being fulfilled.”

North Somerset Council will make the final decision.
