DEPUTY Prime Minister Nick Clegg took a break from the 'slightly stuffy' London scene to visit his Somerset colleague.

Mr Clegg came to Burnham this afternoon (Wed) to lend a helping hand to MP Tessa Munt, who has been volunteering in the community.

Ms Munt was being a carer for the day with home care specialists Neighbourhood Care at a house in Atyeo Close.

The elderly couple, who are both in their 90s, were surprised to welcome Mr Clegg into their home.

He said: “I think they do a great job and it is not easy. It is important for elderly people to see familiar faces to build up trust.

“I am loving my day, I love being out of Westminster. I’m not keen on the slightly stuffy, old-fashioned way we do politics in Westminster.”

Mr Clegg hung around to speak to the staff and some students who had come to visit, posing for a few quick snaps.
