SHOPS in Cheddar and Axbridge will be refusing to sell eggs and flour to youngsters at Halloween to prevent any antisocial behaviour.
Shopkeepers will be putting up signs in their windows to warn youngsters they will not be selling the items and residents are also being given posters if they do not want trick or treaters knocking on their doors.
Police officers have visited the schools in the Cheddar area to remind youngsters to respect the signs if they see them up in people's houses.
Sergeant Mike Tripp said: "We will also be doing extra patrols on the night and the general message is to have fun but stay safe and respect the signs."
Posters can be picked up from the front office at Cheddar Police Station in Cliff Street.
