A GNOME who went missing from his Somerset home appears to be on a trip around the world.

Nobby the Gnome went missing in July and now his owners regularly receive updates on his travels as he sends postcards from his holidays.

Owner Valerie Webber, of Poples Bow, had Nobby on the front wall of her Highbridge cottage when he went missing.

Valerie, who owns the Valerie Webber clothing store in Winscombe, said: "The first postcard we received was from Burnham and I was a bit shocked."

The postcard read 'Hi all, please don't think I have been stolen, I got bored with staying on the wall and have gone travelling. Back in 12 months, Love Nobby the Gnome'.

Since then, Nobby has sent postcards from Cannes in France and even went to stay with is gnome friend Albert in Monaco.

At the end of last year he sent a postcard from Exeter, explaining he was in England for a few days to sort out visas and jabs before setting off to Goa.

Then last week, Valerie received a postcard from the Indian beach resort explaining Nobby had gone to stay with friends.

Valerie said: "The gnome has either been taken by someone well travelled or he is being passed around several friends.

"I thought I knew who it might be but the person has sworn it is not her.
