EVERYONE has their favourite places to eat and drink and now it is your chance to nominate them for an award.

The Mercury-supported Weston super Food Awards are back for a second year, celebrating the best food and drink in the area.

Thousands of people visited the Weston super Food Festival last year, and the event is taking place again on September 27-28.

This year promises to be bigger than ever, with more attractions, activities and entertainment on offer.

Businesses in the Mercury patch are competing for an award for the best restaurant, best pub food or takeaway.

The best independent food businesses, cafes, drinks, breakfasts and fish and chips restaurants will also be recognised.

You can help create the voting shortlist by picking up a copy of Today’s (Thurs) Mercury.

The voting form is on page 13 of this week’s Mercury. To support your favourites and nominate them for an award, simply fill in the form and return it to the Mercury offices at 32 Waterloo Street, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, BS23 ILW by 4pm on August 25.

Those with the most nominations in each category will be shortlisted as finalists. Those finalists will be listed in the

Mercury on August 28, and voting will begin online on September 1.

The winners will be chosen from that list in a three-way vote between an online poll on the Mercury website, festival organisers and Mercury representatives.

This year the awards are being sponsored by Pappadoms Indian takeaway, which is therefore not eligible for an award.

The winners will be announced and prizes handed out at the festival at 10.45am on September 27 in the demonstration kitchen in the Winter Gardens.
