Babies from Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset will make a splash on the silver screen as they star in a British-made film which will be screened across the country.

Light Years, directed by BAFTA-award-winning director Esther Campbell, features synchronised swimming group Water Babies.

Water Babies is the world’s largest baby swim school and babies and parents from the area feature in the film.

Light Years was shot in and around Bristol and premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September 2015, with a number of screenings scheduled this autumn. The film explores the story of a fractured family.

Water Babies founder Bryony Johnstone said: “It was exciting to be involved in filming and all our babies had lots of fun.

“Swimming with your baby or young child is such a joyful way to bond, and the scene in the film evokes the magic between baby and parent that we see every day in our classes.”
