North Somerset Council announces crackdown on unauthorised Bristol Airport car parks

Unauthorised car parks close to Bristol Airport could be severely restricted, after a consultation to crack down on airport parking in the greenbelt was set up by North Somerset Council.
The council is proposing making an order which would remove automatic ‘permitted development’ rights for storing, parking, cleaning, maintaining or repairing any motor vehicle within a certain area around the airport terminal near Wrington.
The council says the problem is being made worse as car park operators are overstaying the 28-day period which they are legally allowed to operate for.
A statement from the council said: “Although the council is constantly monitoring the problem, the off-site airport parking operators continue to exploit permitted development rights.”
Comments on the plans must be received by November 30.
