North Somerset ‘mid-rate’ for repossessions

NORTH Somerset is ranked as the ninth biggest repossession hotspot in the South West, according to new figures.
The data, released by homeless charity Shelter, ranks North Somerset as 202nd out of 324 authorities in the national rankings of homeowners who have been issued with a possession order for their home in the past year.
In the financial year 2010/11, 180 possession orders were made across the authority – a rate of 2.12 per 1,000 households.
Sedgemoor has been ranked as fifth out of 36 authorities in the region, leaving it 165th in the national standings.
Over the past year 110 orders were made, leaving the authority with a rate of 2.48 per 1,000 households.
Both authorities are bracketed as mid-rate by the charity, with the data coming from analysis of the latest Ministry of Justice data on the number of claims leading to possession orders.
