North Somerset MP sent death threat

The Metropolitan Police are investigating a death threat sent to North Somerset’s MP.
Dr Liam Fox received a ‘sinister’ email last week.
The one-line message told Dr Fox to ‘stop your f****** s***, or we’ll kill [specific person named]’.
It has been reported that the threat was issued against a member of Dr Fox’s family, however his advisory team has refused to confirm who the threat was aimed at.
The email was sent at 9.51am on July 12 and was picked up by his secretary who normally deals with his North Somerset constituency work.
A number of other MPs have revealed they have been on the receiving end of death threats and hate-fuelled messages in recent weeks.
A debate in Westminster Hall was held coincidentally on the day of Dr Fox’s threat, when MPs of several parties talked openly about the abuse they had been subjected to, both electronically and in person.
Labour’s shadow home secretary Diane Abbott said she had been on the end of ‘mindless’ racist abuse and had received death threats, while sexist and religious abuse was reported by other MPs.
The comments come little more than a year after Labour’s Jo Cox, the then-MP for Batley and Spen, was murdered by one of her constituents.
Dr Fox’s spokesman said abuse cases have risen.
He added: “We have reported the matter to the Metropolitan Police.
“Recently, we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of abusive communications.
“It is a sinister and deplorable development.”
