A village youth club has set up a campaign to raise £3,000 to pay for vital renovations to its main building.

Yatton Youth Club wants to raise the money to pay for a new boiler and a refurbishment of its hub in Rock Road.

The club is used by young people aged eight to 18 who live in the village, but its building has fallen into a state of disrepair during the past few years.

The youth club is hoping to raise the money by organising events such as cake sales and car washes, but it is also urging the public to lend its support.

Youth club leader Niccy Hook said the group’s young people were coming up with most of the fundraising ideas.

She said: “If we have a better building then we can use it during the day as well.

“I think it will be a really positive thing.

“They like coming up with different ideas and it helps them to really own their club. There is a lot more respect for the place and the building if we get the young people engaged.”
