A Congresbury animal sanctuary welcomed guests for an open day, with animal lovers getting their hands on a range of creatures.

North Somerset Bird of Prey Centre, in Smallway, opened its gates and delivered expert flying demonstrations and educational presentations which wowed a sizeable crowd.

Lots of families attended, with guests able to get up close and personal with a variety of animals, including snakes, reptiles and owls.

A spokesman said: “We had such beautiful weather for the open day and so many wonderful comments from visitors enjoying their day.

“The arena was packed for our flying display and the mammal feeding and talks were as popular as ever.

“We couldn’t believe how many people stayed to meet our reptiles as well.”

The bird of prey centre will host its final open day of the year on September 24 from 10am-4.30pm.
