A WESTON writer's collection of stories has just made number two in the Waterstones' top 50 book list.

June Bastable, aged 72, of Stanley Road, Weston, who has been writing since 2004, has published her collection of short stories entitled Some People.

The book reflects on the realism of people’s personalities which is full of wicked humour and June has recently had her official book signing at Waterstones, in High Street.

June said: “My book signing went fantastically well, much better than I ever expected. Lots of friends and ex-colleagues turned up to support me and perfect strangers joined the queue and bought copies.

“The atmosphere was buzzing, all very exciting and the time flew by.”

Her book is now number two in the Weston Waterstones’ book list, just behind Jeffery Archer’s The Sins of the Father.

June said: “My book is above writers such as Boycie, Susan Hill and even my hero Stephen Fry. I am in seventh heaven.”

June also said she is continuing with her passion for writing and has enough material for a second book, and is thinking of bringing out a bigger volume of short stories.
