Nursery expansion plan gets mixed response

THERE has been mixed reaction to the news that a nursery in Worle wants to expand.

Concern has been raised by those living near Little Starz in Ebdon Road who say they already have problems with visitors and parents blocking the streets outside their homes. They also say they suffer because of the noise from the children using the playground all day and they fear that could increase.

But the application has also received several letters of support, with one parent saying an expansion would allow the children to be in smaller groups and have a separate group for two to three year olds.

She added: “In relation to the complaint regarding noise, the nursery is situated opposite a main school and at break times it can be quite noisy, so to have some children playing and learning out in the garden should not make that much difference.

“I can understand the parking in Seymour Close being an issue and I have spoken to the nursery owner regarding this and she has told her staff not to park in that road.

“The extra traffic in Ebdon Road is not due to the nursery, but to Wick St Lawrence and the back roads to Congresbury.”

Another parent wrote to North Somerset Council and added: “I believe the neighbours will do their utmost to stop this exciting development and I hope that when you make your decision you can put our children and their education first.”

Residents living near the nursery are demanding to know if any extra parking facilities will be created if the nursery expands.
