New houses for Churchill?

Nine houses could be built in a North Somerset village, if plans are approved by the local authority.

Oakwood New Homes has applied to North Somerset Council for outline planning permission to build in Churchill.

The proposed site, to the west of Ladymead Lane sits outside the village’s settlement boundary,
but the developer believes the benefits of the scheme ‘significantly and demonstrably outweigh’ its potential adverse impacts.

Oakwood New Homes’ planning statement said: “It is clear the scheme is acceptable in principle and accords with national planning policy and relevant local planning policy.

“The scheme will be designed to reflect and enhance the characteristics of surrounding development.”

Churchill has been the target of several housing proposals of late, including the Joint Spatial Plan which moots a 2,800-home development on the edge of the village.
