A PENSIONER had to be rescued from mud at Berrow beach after becoming stuck during an early morning dog walk.

The 72-year-old woman fell in mud when attempting to retrieve her pet after it wandered over the sand line, and was unable to get up.

Burnham mud rescue team was alerted at around 8.25am yesterday (Tuesday) and launched a rescue operation.

They successfully reached the woman and returned her to safety. Medical checks revealed she was cold but unharmed.
