THE Olympic flame will be in Weston tomorrow (Wed) in the lead-up to the London 2012 games.

It will arrive on the seafront at about 10.15am and will be outside the Grand Pier for 20 minutes.

Not the Olympic torch, but a flame lit from the official Olympic torch, it will be carried in a lantern to the pier. On hand to welcome it will be Weston MP John Penrose, the Government’s Minister for Tourism.

He will be joined by the chairman of North Somerset Council, Terry Porter, town mayor David Hitchens and Grand Pier owner Kerry Michael.

Children from Walliscote and Corpus Christi primary schools have been invited along to witness the historic moment in Weston.

Hundreds of spectators are expected to line the seafront to see the Olympic flame as it passes through Weston on its way to Bristol and Cheltenham.
